On 25th of November 1960, Mirabal Sisters were raped and murdered because of their revolutionary fight against the dictator Trujillo of the Dominican Republic. In the memory of this event, in 1999 United Nations declared 25th of November as the "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
