The Convention on the Rights of the Child aims to protect children and their rights. It was adopted by United Nations on 20th November 1989 and entered into force on 2nd September 1990. This convention is the most widely accepted documentation of human rights in the world. The Convention was adopted in North Cyprus in 1996. Since its adoption in the UN 20th November is accepted as Universal Children's Day.
